This week, we were able to move some of our learning outside! We brought out bugs and magnifying glasses for the children to explore in the sun. Outdoor learning benefits social interactions, cognitive abilities, physical health, and engagement with learning! We even explored some of our container materials outside, filling them with nature and dumping them out. Music was also heard throughout our play yard as we tested what rocks sound like on different things, coming to the conclusion that the railing makes the loudest musical sound. We use all of our senses when we explore outside, as we see the sun bouncing off our materials, breathe in the earthy aroma, touch the soft ground or the rough wood of a tree, and sometimes even taste the earth.

“Play is the highest form of research” – Albert Einstein

On our chillier days and mornings, we spent time inside exploring our many different colored silks and dramatic play, ripping and unwrapping with our friends, and laughing with our teachers as we explored mark making on mirrors! There was teamwork to be seen around every corner, fun memories made, and the best belly laughs.
