Children are natural explorers, drawn to the simplest objects with boundless curiosity. Lately, our teaching team has observed a growing fascination among the children with small containers and their lids—a seemingly ordinary activity that holds profound learning opportunities.

More Than Just Fine Motor Skills
As they twist, pull, and push, the children encounter moments of ease and moments of resistance. Some lids come off effortlessly, while others remain stubbornly stuck. These experiences spark resilience, problem-solving, and even social connection. They learn to navigate frustration, seek support, and celebrate small victories—each twist and turn becoming a lesson in persistence and discovery.

Exploring Belonging Through Play
This work extends beyond fine motor practice; it becomes an exploration of belonging. What fits? What doesn’t? And how do we navigate the in-between? With each attempt, the children gain confidence—not just in their hands, but in their ability to approach challenges with curiosity and determination.
Expanding the Possibilities
Inspired by their engagement, we have introduced a wider variety of containers, inviting new possibilities for inquiry and dialogue. Through this expanded exploration, the children continue their journey of resilience, connection, and the quiet joy of discovering how things—and people—come together.
This documentation captures a glimpse of our shared learning, a reminder that even the smallest explorations can hold the biggest lessons.
